Frogs of Falls: Geocache

Welcome to Little Adventures Everywhere!

Falls Township Parks & Recreation system is located in Lower Bucks County PA and is home to some of the most beautiful parks in the Bucks County area. With offering plenty of recreational options such as boating, fishing, playgrounds, summer camps and sports organizations; it now offers something even more. GEOCACHING!

Geocaching is one of the worlds largest "treasure" hunts; a game that gets you motivated to get outside, put your thinking caps on, and enjoy new and exciting adventures! To learn more about Geocaching please check out my first blog post: https://www.littleadventureseverywhere.com/post/what-is-geocaching

With permission from the Falls Township Parks & Recreation Director, Brian Andrews, I was able to start the parks journey into Geocaching by placing 4 Micro caches in the Falls Township Community Park; the "Frogs of Falls".

Frogs of Falls: Why Frogs?

During the summer months in Falls Township, when walking around the Community Park, one can hear the sweet sound of summer- Bull Frogs! These Frogs are 3D printed by my husband Brandon, painted by me, and placed by my son Leo and I. These amphibians were set up in January; a little reminder of what is to come in the following months: more sun, more fun, and more frogs! Meet Admiral, Juniper, Tangerine, and Violet!

You can purchase your own frog Geocache container at our family's online store!

Frogs of Falls: Why Falls Township Community Park?

The motivation for placing my first Geocaches , "Frogs of Falls", at the Falls Township Community Park was in part because this park holds a wonderful place in my heart; it was the first date my now husband and I met up at to take a walk. We have taken our giant mutt, Larry, to the dog park on many occasions. It was the first place I took my son Leo to the park: when he was only 6 months old- he crawled all around the accessible playground, swung on the mommy-and-me-swing with me, and we would slide down the slide together! Now he is an independent 2 year old who can scale the equipment with less help from me. Additionally, this is where I met one of my best mom friends, Kaitlyn, and her daughter; in a world where most relationships are made online- it was fate to meet such an amazing mom and daughter duo!

The park also sparks interest for future endeavors: we noticed the soccer programs they have, and how we want to eventually enroll our kids in the program; how great it will be to watch our kids play under the field lights. They host fishing derby's, have a awesome skate park that my neighbor frequents often that I have yet to try out but it looks SO fun, a beautiful lake for boating: kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, even sailboats can be seen floating around. They have a brand new roller blade hockey rink, basketball and volley ball courts, two pavilions, two playgrounds, and so many events (which I plan to post more about in the future).

Geocaching is about bringing people to interesting and engaging environments, and to me, Falls Township Community Park is just that! The caches have been published and have already gotten a few Geocachers; if you do not already have the app, you can download it here: https://www.geocaching.com/play

Frogs of Falls: What's Next?

In addition to the Falls Township Community Park, I plan to add more Geocaches to the Falls Township Parks system. There are 15 more locations (one of which includes a community pool) that I would love to incorporate Geocaching at.

So be on the lookout for more frogs; and with permission, I will expand to other containers that will include "Swag" and a range of difficulties! Thank you Brian for the opportunity to bring the world of Geocaching to Falls Township- I hope new and seasoned Geocachers enjoy!

Helpful Products: As a mom I know how hard it can be to get out of the house. So I always try and include any helpful tools to make parent life easier and more fun! These are things I use all the time when out Geocaching with my kids- hopefully they can help you too!

Wool Socks: Even with layers, my kids feet get COLD. I have found these wool socks to be amazing for my 3 month old, and a similar style for my todder work great!

Hiking Backpack: Perfect for when you want to go hiking, or even just a short walk with the kids. Quicker and more compact then a stroller, having a hiking backpack makes grabbing geocaches much smoother while still being able to carry all those diapers, snacks, wipes, snacks, your water, and more snacks!

Double Stroller: If you have two kids, especially 2 under 2, a double stroller works wonders. We have a wagon stroller too, but the stroller is perfect while the baby is still sleeping a lot- this one is different then the one we have, but I highly recommend one that has a bassinet option that can turn into a toddler seat! I have even taken ours into the woods which you will see in future posts!

What a great idea! I sure hope to find one of these out there somewhere. We geocache and we are right near Trenton, NJ so it will be possible. Glad it's getting warmer too :)

I am so glad it is getting warmer! Today was beautiful out. And absolutely, this park is a short drive over the bridge, my husbands from the Hamilton area originally :)
